The United Church of Huntington is seeking a part-time Youth Ministry Coordinator to join our youth ministry team for an initial two-year commitment. The goal of our Youth Ministry is to disciple students in 6th-12th grade, making committed and growing followers of Jesus who are equipped to live faithfully in their present season of life and into adulthood. The Youth Ministry Coordinator will expand and develop this ministry through the primary job responsibilities of Presence, Relationship, and Organization.
We expect the Youth Ministry Coordinator to be present in the lives of students by assisting with our regular church programs and seeking opportunities to engage with youth at community events.
We expect the Youth Ministry Coordinator to build appropriate discipleship relationships with students, reaching out to marginally involved church youth, setting a Godly example, and utilizing life-on-life mentoring.
We expect the Youth Ministry Coordinator to expand our ministry by organizing additional events and opportunities. Possible examples include service projects, summer activities, and missions trips.
The Youth Ministry Coordinator will work closely with the Pastor and church volunteers as part of our Youth Ministry Team.
Time commitment: 15-20 hours/week, negotiable.
Requirements:
- Age 21 or over.
- Personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
- Agreement with the doctrine of the United Church of Huntington, as expressed in our Statement of Faith and Position Papers.
- Willingness to build discipleship relationships with middle-and-high-school aged youth.
- Strong understanding of Scripture and ability to provide Bible-based teaching
- Successful completion of a background check and child safety training.
- Formal training in ministry (completed or in process) preferred.
Responsibilities:
-Be engaged with Sunday morning worship and Sunday School at UCH.
-Be part of the leadership team for Sunday evening Youth Group (September-June), arriving early and helping to clean up.
-Assist with Wednesday evening Trail Life or American Heritage Girls ministry.
-Assist with our summer Family Bible School
-Organize and lead additional youth activities, including summer trips.
-Meet regularly with the Pastor and Elders
-Reach out to youth in the church and community by attending outside events.
Compensation: $15,000-$20,000/year, based on agreed-upon hours.
Benefits: Travel and expense reimbursement. 4 weeks paid vacation.
